An Odour Family May be defined as a class of Odours the members of which are related to another by having certain features, and frequently application, in common. Perfumery, as an art, has always been highly nature-oriented, and hence so are most of the odour words used by perfumers. If perfumery is to survive and develop as a creative art, then it is reasonable to propose that to preserve creative freedom of practitioners, its whole philosophy has to remain nature - orientated and interpretative of nature.

Odours of culinary spices, of which we list those most commonly found as fragrance notes in perfumes, sometimes defining the overall fragrance character, as incertain spicy masculine toiletries,imparting warmth and richness, or in traces for special fragrance effects.
